Unfortunately, as expected, Maria's fluid build-up has continued, causing plenty of disruption and pain.

She was back in the hospital yesterday, where doctors drained 4.5 liters from her abdomen. She's relieved and feeling a little better now, but still very uncomfortable.

Today she met with her oncologist, and they've decided to install a port in her abdomen (later this week) to enable her to drain the fluid at home. This will be a little weird, but certainly easier than having to constantly run to the ER! And it should help her manage the pain as well. She also met with her pain management doctor to adjust her medication.

The oncologist has paused the chemo treatment until he can get a handle on why this is happening, what the chemo is doing to her, and how to fix it. Please send good thoughts her way. Thank you!
